The Vodafone Fijian national football team play their third friendly game against Lautoka today as part of their build up for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Stage 3 in March.

Coach Christophe Gamel said the team was slowly adapting to his style and so far no one has impressed him.

“The friendly games have not been that good. We played against Rewa and Ba and I think we could have performed better,” Gamel said.

“We are working together to apply what we have learnt during our friendly games and I know my assistant coach Kamal Swami will put together a good Lautoka team

“No one has impressed me so far to be honest, no one individually. I don’t look for one person I look for a collective effort.

“These players have tried their best to play the way I want but they still lack communication on the field. They need to constantly communicate and they need to work on their defence a lot more.

“However, I am impressed with the way the players are able to keep the ball and keep their position.

“The friendly games are a big help because it helps me gauge the players individually and as a team.”

The national side will play Lautoka at 4.30pm.

Fiji will be playing the OFC Stage 3 qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. They will play New Zealand on March 25 at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
