For the first time yesterday, Courts (Fiji) Limited at Rodwell Road in Suva celebrated Chinese New Year.

They will be celebrating Chinese New Year in their Lautoka branch today.

Courts director of marketing, Anil Senewiratne, said: “Fiji is multicultural society and Chinese are also part of society.

“This is one of the reasons we’re celebrating Chinese New Year.

“Chinese New Year means a lot to me in particular it means that as a multicultural society, we all are equal and it’s important to celebrate each other’s festivals.”

Mr Senewiratne said whether it’s Christmas, Diwali or Chinese New Year, we must all come together and celebrated it together.

Courts retail operations director Hamendra Prasad said: “This is the first year we’re doing Chinese New Year celebrations.

“And with increased number of our Chinese customers in Fiji, its good idea that we all get together as one big family and celebrate different joyous occasions in the country,” he said.
