Party Banks On People To Fund Campaign: Prasad

The National Federation Party will turn to its supporters to help fund its election campaign for the 2018 General Election.
Party leader Biman Prasad made the statement last night at their Nadi Branch meeting.
Talking to close to 150 supporters, Mr Prasad said unlike other political parties, who he alleged rely on big businesses to fund their election campaign, the NFP would look to the grassroots for support.
“Even if it is just $2 or $5, this will help our campaign,” he said.
He also told supporters not to be afraid of voting or speaking on issues that affected their lives.
“I am encouraged by the fact that what you do in that polling booth is what matters,” he said.
He took a swipe at the FijiFirst Party and the laws it had introduced.
Mr Prasad also spoke out against the Fiji Sun and Fiji Broadcasting Corporation labelling the two leading media organisations as being supported up by the Government.
Last night was also the first time for acting party president Semi Titiko to address party members at a meeting.
Mr Titiko, who hails from Rakiraki and is a lawyer by profession, thanked the party for having faith in him to take up this position.
“We in Rakiraki are looking forward to the elections and for things to happen.”
He said he had been receiving numerous complaints from people in Rakiraki on issues that affected their lives
Mr Titiko said he had been receiving numerous concerns raise on bridges that were built in the rural areas and have been washed away with each flood that came.
“People are asking me if the Government still remembers them as citizens of Fiji?
“They have been neglected but the people are happy that a kai Ra has accepted the post of Acting President of NFP.”
Mr Titiko called on the people to support the party leader Mr Prasad and the party in the next elections.
