The Fiji Police Force has received a report that a five-year-old student died after she was allegedly treated at a health centre and sent home.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim was not feeling well last Wednesday and was taken to the Namaka Health Centre.

She was said to be treated and sent home.

“Later on, her mother noticed her motionless and rushed her to Nadi Hospital where she was pronounced dead,” Ms Naisoro said.

The only child of Ajitesh and Pritika Prakash of Waimalika in Nadi died last Thursday after suffering from a suspected fever and diarrhoea for a day.

Attempts to get a comment from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services before this edition went to press were unsuccessful.
