Major sponsor Island Pacific Apparel has indicated their intention to extend their sponsorship for the next three years.

This was revealed by Island Pacific Apparel sales and marketing manager Sunil Chand during the official opening of the Futsal Carnival at Nadi Muslim College grounds yesterday.

“The volume and growth of this tournament in just three years has proven that this Futsal carnival will have more surprises in the future as well as it being the biggest Futsal carnival now in the region,” he said.

“IPA is taking up a commitment for the next three tournaments increasing the price purse and enhancing the intensity of the competition to another level,” he said.

Tournament organiser Nadeem Mohammed thanked IPA for sponsoring the carnival since the inaugural tournament in 2014.

“We are calling for the national selectors, development officers around the country as at the moment Futsal is not that prominent in the West,” he said.

“We are requesting that Futsal officers to be around in the future during the two days and look around for potential players in this competition.”

Mohammed thanked other sponsors Fiji Sun for introducing the Master’s category in the two-day fiesta.

“This is the first time we are having the Fiji Sun Masters competition and we are starting off with eight teams this year.

“At this juncture we are announcing that in the next competition later in the year we are going to have age group competition of under-17 and under-18 that will help the secondary school students get more of the Futsal taste.”
