PM Praised For Promoting Peace, Diverse Society

High level dignitaries, Government officials and diplomats last night converged at the Suva Civic Centre in Suva to commemorate the 68th Republic Day of India.

Among them was Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote, and Members of Parliament.

They were entertained with Indian pure classical dances with a fusion of iTaukei meke from the outstanding Fusion Dance Group led by Sehannan Patrick.

India’s High Commissioner to Fiji Vishvas Sapkal, said the event aimed to bring Government officials and diplomats to celebrate one of India’s auspicious occasions.

Mr Sapkal thanked the PM for bringing in policies that promoted peace in a diverse society like Fiji.

“We are blessed to be commemorating this day too in Fiji with all high level dignitaries and humbled to see them celebrating this day with us,” he said.

Indian Cultural Centre relations director, Anil Sharma praised Mr Bainimarama for taking the lead role in the fight against climate change.
