The BBQ Chicken restaurant at the RB Jet Point in Martintar, Nadi, will remain closed until further notice.

A fire yesterday afternoon at the restaurant damaged stock and equipment.

Quick action from the National Fire Authority saved the restaurant and complex from possible destruction, according to restaurant general manager, Melvin Chand.

Mr Chand said his staff members and a few customers were evacuated safely.

“We do not know the cause of the fire as we wait for the National Fire Authority to investigate but it started from the front kitchen,” Mr Chand said.

“The restaurant will remain closed until further notice.”

Mr Chand thanked the firefighters for their quick response.

The fire, if it had spread, could have resulted in huge losses for the many businesses at the complex.
