Super Sub Veitokani Shines, Fiji In Final

Super sub Alivereti Veitokani scored the try that sparked the Vodafone Flying Fijians to a 19-12 win over Scotland in the Cup semi-finals of the Wellington 7s, this afternoon.
The Vodafone Fijians had a slow start as the Scots denied them possession and took a 7-0 lead. The Fijians struck back when forward Kalione Nasoko strolled in for their opening try as Osea Kolinisau’s conversion drew the scores level 7-7.
But from the next phase of play Nasoko copped a yellow card for a high tackle as Scotland took advantage of the situation to lead 12-7 at the interval.
The Vodafone Fijians came out firing in the second spell but wrong options denied them any chances of scoring.
With less than 3 minutes remaining Veitokani struck when he sidestepped his way over for a try, which Kolinisau converting it for a 14-12 lead.
This fired up the Fijians as they piled on the pressure with winger Joeli Lutumailagi crashing his over for the third try.
In the second semi-final, Canada lost to South Africa 5-21.
Fiji will now face South Africa in the final of the Wellington Sevens at 7.30 pm tonight.
