Guns Were Toy Pistols: Police

Police have confirmed that toy pistols, originally thought to be real guns, were found in a house that caught fire in Manoca, Nausori, recently.
Fire officers who went to the scene saw them and thought they were genuine guns because of the remarkable look-alike.
Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho said the guns were “live size replicas”. He said this meant they looked the same with the real guns.
The guns were uplifted from a businessman’s home in Manoca, Nausori last week.
Sixty-year-old Kamal Khalil said the fire happened during daylight when his entire family members were at home.
He said 67 per cent of the house was badly damaged in the fire.
When questioned whether guns were found at his home, Mr Khalil responded “Yes, its toy guns and not real ones.
He added that they were toy guns that looked real.
Mr Khalil said that he was contacted by a Police officer that guns were found at his burnt down home.
“They took them away without my knowledge and all my grandchildren were playing with them,” he said
“The person who took the guns should know the difference between A and B. For people to speculate it’s very embarrassing,” he said.
