Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu encouraged the boarding students of Monfort Technical Institute in Savusavu to continue to advocate and maintain their interest in agriculture.

While opening the institute’s piggery shed in Savusavu, he said whoever invested in agriculture would surely receive money everyday.

“’I also encourage you to continue to advocate and maintain your interest to be involved in agriculture because we have a collective responsibility,” Mr Seruiratu said.

“Monfort Technical Institute is not only about academic and technical skills; it is also about lifetime skills and I hope you value this.

“You have the opportunity so make the most of it. Study hard, be dedicated and listen to your teachers.

“I thank the director and boys town for partnering with the Ministry of Agriculture in looking after the stock, the genetics and breading materials and our piggery farm in Vanua Levu.”

The project, Development for Monfort Pig Multiplication Farm, is a $28,188 investment.

It was approved in 2015 and implemented last year when the Ministry of Agriculture provided a contribution of $16,188.

There are 110 boarding students.
