ANZ bank and the Fashion Council of Fiji announced their partnership yesterday.

This partnership will help connect local designers to excel in their small businesses.

ANZ Fiji acting chief executive Saud Minam said the partnership includes the delivery of ANZ’s flagship financial literacy programe, MoneyMinded, and MoneyMinded Business Basics to members of the Fashion Council at no cost to participants.

“There’s tremendous creative talent in Fiji and we want to see their businesses succeed,” said Mr Minam.

“We appreciate that small business owners, including our talented local artists, want learning opportunities such as this, and we’re committed to helping their businesses grow.”

MoneyMinded is ANZ’s comprehensive suite of adult financial education programs that aims to improve financial skills, knowledge and confidence.

It has been successfully delivered to over 10000 people across the Pacific since it was introduced in 2010.

“More recently we’ve expanded the programme for small business through MoneyMinded Business Basics for SMEs,” Mr Minam explained.

“This recognises the important link between the success of small businesses and economic welfare of communities

Connecting fashion to tourism

Fashion Council of Fiji chair Faraz Ali welcomed the collaboration with ANZ.

He said innovative partnerships such as this would help aspiring designers gain more exposure to local and international markets while building their business skills.

“Exposing our members to these opportunities will be key to their growth,” Mr Ali said.

“We’d like to thank ANZ for the collaboration and first-ever initiative of its kind for Fiji and the Pacific.

“In particular, we’re looking forward to connecting our designers this month to guests going to the prestigious ANZ Excellence in Tourism Awards being held in Nadi on 18 February.”

Mr Minam added: “The ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards is Fiji’s most prestigious awards event for the industry, and wearing a locally designed gown or suit is greatly encouraged in support of ‘Fiji Made’.”

ANZ Fashion ATMs

The first in a series of ANZ Fashion ATMs was revealed yesterday to mark the partnership between ANZ and the Fashion Council of Fiji, featuring the design print called “Ika” by Samson Lee.

“Look out for more Fashion ATMs to revealed across the country over the next couple of weeks,” Mr Minam said.
