Overloaded Trucks?
Three trucks were spotted near the Sote road junction the other day.
Headed for Ba, all were loaded with mahogany logs with an extra trailer attached.
Land Transport Authority officials quickly disembarked their vehicle when our chief photographer arrived at the scene.
He was informed that the trucks could be carrying three times more the weight they were suppose to carry.
But they needed to verify with the portable weighing machine.
Yesterday we were informed by the same officers that the weight of the logs per truck was within the national limit.
Tailevu ga sa rawata!
Reminder for parents
This note was pinned up at a Day Care and quickly made the rounds on social media:
“You are picking up your child.
GET OFF YOUR PHONE
Your child is happy to see you! Are you happy to see your child?
We have seen children trying to hand their parents their work they completed and the parent is on the phone.
We have heard a child say “Mommy, mommy, mommy…” and the parent is paying attention to their phone rather than to their own child.
It is appalling.
GET OFF YOUR PHONE!”
