Vasiti Vuniwaqa is expected to become a better leader after being badged as Deputy Headgirl of Jai Narayan College in Suva.

The Year 12 student, was badged during the school’s prefect induction ceremony yesterday.

The 16-year-old girl’s mother, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa, together with father, the Director for Fiji Immigration, Nemani Vunniwaqa were present to witness the badging ceremony.

Ms Vuniwaqa said they were very proud parents of their eldest of three.

“We are very proud and it is great to see her already practicing her responsibilities as a leader.

“It surely puts a lot of responsibility on her shoulders with her academic work and family at home but I know she will do her very best.

“The badge demands a lot from her as a leader and as her mother, I expect more from her and I know she can do it,” Ms Vuniwaqa said.

Mr Vuniwaqa says she has to do her best and perform her duties to have the youngsters follow her footsteps.

“She is expected to perform as a leader in her school and I know everyone expects a lot from her.

“The best thing about Vasiti is that she does not look up to us on our positions but as parents how we perform our duties and fulfill the responsibilities while being leaders in the society,” Mr Vuniwaqa said.
