Expect More Rain Says Met Office

Expect ‘unsettled weather’ from today and early next week, the Fiji Meteorological Services has advised.
Director, Ravind Kumar, said this was due to a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain moving over Fiji from the east and start affecting from today.
As a result, Mr Kumar said localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding in the low lying areas.
Heavy showers have been experienced throughout the nation since Friday.
“Rain and thunderstorms are anticipated to develop from later today over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau Group, Yasawa, interior and eastern parts of the larger islands,” Mr Kumar said.
The rain is expected to gradually spread over the rest of Fiji on Sunday.
“The trough is expected to lie over Fiji and remain slow moving. Tropical disturbances are anticipated to develop along the trough near Tonga and Vanuatu which will keep rainy conditions over the country into early next week with isolated heavy falls likely.”
Mr Kumar has called on the public to take heed of weather alerts, warnings and advisories seriously whenever it was issued and remain prepared at all times.
