Rewa’s Team To Beat: Nadi

The Nadi football team face Rewa in the first round of the Vodafone Premier League 2017 at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.

Nadi Football Association president Navneeda Gounder said they were mindful of the ‘Delta Tigers’ preparing for the Champions League.

“Rewa is a good side as they have been preparing for the O-League,” Gounder said.

“But we started training last Monday with 17 players turning up.

“Rewa will be definitely the favourite as they are the second best team in the country after qualifying for the O-League last season.

“We need to test Rewa and continue where we left off after our Pacific Cup win.”

He added veteran fullback Eliki Ravosai, striker Napolioni Qasevatini and goalkeeper Vereti Dickson will share the leadership role.

Meanwhile, Nadi FA Annual General Meeting will be held tomorrow and Gounder will not seek re-election.

“I’ve had four years in charge and it is time for someone to take over,” he added.

He would continue to assist Nadi FA if required.

“I’m a Nadi man through and through, no other district,”Gounder said.
