Saula Waqa scored two superb goals as Ba came from behind to win the match.

Suva took an early lead in the 6th minute through striker Ravinesh Karan Singh.

In the 29th minute, a back heel by Waqa got the ‘Men in Black’ the equaliser.

Ba defender Remueru Tekiata played a pivotal role despite receiving the first yellow card.

Half time: 1-1

Waqa increased Ba’s lead 2-1 in the 47th minute following Suva’s defensive error.

The intensity of the match increased in the second half with Ba’s Laisenia Raura and Suva’s Setareki Hughes shown the yellow card.

Former Labasa players Tekiata and left back Pranil Naidu played outstandingly for Ba.

Suva veteran Pita Rabo and goalscorer Singh lacked support upfront.

Star Turn: Saula Waqa was the star player for Ba with his two goals.

Comments: Ba coach Imdad Ali;

“Our players played according to plan and I’m happy. The win has boosted our Champions League campaign later this month.

“We wanted to go into the Champions League on a high note and the win against Suva has given us a good start.  We included some new players and Tekiata and Pranil Naidu played well.”

Suva coach Nathan Shivam;

“There are weaknesses we need to work on for the next match”.
