Nuku District School inducts 18 student leaders.

Sainimili Kesivale is ready to stand by the students of Nuku District School in Naselai, Nausori.

The Year Eight student from Natogadravu Village in Naselai, Nausori, said her role as head girl required her to stand by the students before anything else.

“I believe as the leader of the students at this school I have to support them and stand by them so no one is left out in getting better education and improving on their academic works,” the 13-year-old said after the induction last Friday at the school church.

Eighteen students were inducted as school leaders.

“My actions as a leader of the school will show them how to perform well in academic and extra-curricular activities,” she said.

“I want to work with the students to help them in their academic works so I can set an example to them. My actions and performance will determine how they will behave and act.”

She said her role model was her father who had taught her about being a good leader. Her father, Wasakaia Raoma, is currently serving as a peacekeeper in Lebanon.

Head boy Kosaia Koroisave, 13, of Toki in Ovalau said his parents inspired him to be a leader.

“My parents are my real inspiration who have advised me to listen to my heart and do what is right,” the teenager said.

“Right, not just for myself, but also for all connected to me. I will apply the same principle and use it for my role as head boy.”
