Yesterday’s award for the wittiest remark in Parliament went to Parveen Bala, the Minister for Local Government Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport.
During question time he was grilled by the Opposition on the Kasavu slip bypass road.
He believed he had done a reasonable job in responding to questions. But just as he thought it was all over Semesa Karavaki shot one final question. Is there another alternative bypass route? Mr Bala’s reply brought the house down. He said: “Queens Rd.” Even the Speaker, Dr Jiko Luveni, could be heard laughing.
