Fiji Billiard and Snooker Association president, Riffat Bhatti is expecting a tough battle in Friday’s Champion versus Champion Billiard tournament at the Suva Merchant Club.

“For this tournament we will be choosing eight to ten players to represent Fiji in the Oceania Billiard Championship in Australia,” Bhatti said.

“The officials will be Suman Ali and myself as this is the first time for us to send a team so we are looking forward to it. We have sixteen participants competing in this tournament, they have prepared well and all are looking forward to the competition.”

Bhatti also acknowledged their major sponsor Pillay Garment’s Limited for giving $3300.

‘We have players like Walter Robinson who is the number one player and this is his first time playing in the championship. He has to prove himself if he wants to be part of the Oceania team.

“He will also face experienced players like Viliame Umu, Suresh Chauhan, Ismael Wali, Deepak Jai Ram and Mosese Nawaqakuta.

“We have Rahil Prasad who is also a good player and last week’s champion so it will be a good battle between these players,” he said. The prize money at stake is $1000.
