The Gareth Baber coached- Vodafone Fijian 7s team will share the $15,000 bonus for reaching the final of the Wellington 7s.

The bonus was for their gallant performance despite losing 26-5 to South Africa in the final at the Cake Tin.

The side arrived at Nadi International Airport yesterday and was greeted by the Fiji Rugby Union officials and sponsors Vodafone Fiji.

FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor thanked Vodafone Fiji for their sponsorship.

“We thank Vodafone for the cheque that they have handed over today,” he said.

“The money will be divided amongst the players, and it will be in their bank account by Thursday.”

O’Connor also praised the players for their efforts in Wellington and Sydney.

“We know it is a long two weeks, I know they are looking forward to spending time with their families. I know they have sat and discussed with the coach as they now lead up to the Las Vegas tournament.”

Vodafone Fiji’s head of enterprise development, Antonio Kitione also thanked the team for what they have achieved.

“We would like to thank the players, supporters and the consulting sponsors who are also involved in this. Thank you very much, win or lose the country is always behind you and win or lose we will also give the glory back to God.”

Team manager Jone Niurua said it was a hard two weeks of travelling with five new players in the team.

“For coach Gareth Baber, it was a very difficult task for him and he has learnt alot.”

Captain Osea Kolinisau said they are always grateful to Vodafone Fiji for being their sponsor.

“Especially for being here to greet us, whenever we come back. We are so lucky to have Vodafone,” he added.
