Gospel Teachers Happy With Student Leaders Pick

Gospel School for the Deaf is happy with this year’s selection of student leaders.
The School’s Prefect Selection Committee’s, Salote Babitu said they were pleased with their decision.
“We look at their behaviour and leadership skills.”
Ten prefects were selected to help headboy Sitiare Bikitea, 17, of Kiribati, and headgirl Vitorina Vani Vala, 18, from Navakawau in Taveuni.
“We are thankful to have these two. It is the same as normal schools because some prefects are hard to control but in this school we are lucky because they behave well and the student roll is about 50,” Mrs Babitu said.
Sitiare, with the assistance of the school’s interpreter, Patricia Heffernan, said his family in Kiribati had motivated him to work hard.
The teenager came here at the age of 10 with his aunty and uncle. He lives with his uncle in Suva.
“I love and enjoy Fiji and learned a lot since I arrived,” he said.
