Wame Bulinamara couldn’t be more proud of his son.

Mr Bulinamara was once a prefect of Ratu Kadavulevu School, and so were others in the family who have kept that legacy.

But his son, Josua Raivanua, took the best and top badge of all and became the headboy.

The Year 13 student who comes from Buca in Cakaudrove Province, Vanua Levu, was inducted yesterday with his prefects at the school chapel in Tailevu yesterday.

Mr Bulinamara said: “I had encouraged and pushed him to always work hard on his academic and sports career.

“It was not hard to make him understand about leadership and duties because we, as a family, all come from the same school and were prefects back in the day.

“I always advise him to look forward to a good career and that we are there to support him in his decision.”

Josua said: “Being the head boy of such a big and renowned school in Fiji is an honour for me.

“My family members have also being former students of RKS and they were prefects back in their time as well.

“It is absolutely a proud moment for my family and I to have me inducted as the head boy and lead the school of about 1000 students,” Josua said.

He said things will not be as hard to balance if he worked hard.

“I know I will have to balance my academic, my duties as the head boy and especially sports.

“Sports are my top priority and career option but I have to look at all the things that are connected to me before I make my final decision.

“Being a leader would simply ask for the most attention but I am happy to have my deputies and other prefects to assist me throughout the year,” Josua said.

He is also an 800metre athlete.

Mr Bulinamara added: “Pushing his son to work an extra mile was worth it.”
