Nausheen Buksh says she is honoured to be given the role of headgirl of Suva Muslim College yesterday.

The Year 13 student said her new position would be a big responsibility, but she would do her best.

“I want to thank my family for their support and in everything I’ve achieved,” she said.

Her father, Saiyad Buksh, watched proudly yesterday as his daughter was given her role as a head prefect.

“I’m just so proud of my daughter been chosen as we were abroad when we heard about the news,” Mr Buksh said.

The school also badged its new headboy, Mohammed Ansar.

“It’s a great honour for me and I thank God, my teachers and my family for having faith in me to be given this position,” said the young Rakiraki native.

Ansar has been a border at the school hostel for the past seven years while his family are back in Rakiraki.

Suva Muslim College has a roll of about 600 students from Years 9 to 13 and a staff of 48.

A total of 46 prefects and 36 class prefects were inducted yesterday at the school.
