Defence lawyer Safaira Ratu objected to the State’s application to consolidate rape charges of two accused.

A 30-year-old man is charged for the rape of a 13-year-old girl and in a separate case a 22-year-old man is charged for raping the same girl.

The state wants to consolidate the files as the victim is the same girl, but Ms Ratu says that the caution interview statement could contradict in the case.

Both alleged incidents occurred on July 31, last year in Lau.

Judge Justice Vincent Perera will make his decision on February 23, whether or not to consolidate the files.

The case has been adjourned to February 16, for the bail hearing of the 30-year-old charged.
