Headboy, Headgirl Look to Parents as Role Models

Asaeli Heritage is proud to be the headboy of Savusavu Secondary School, one of the biggest hostel schools in province of Cakaudrove.
The Kioan lad, residing at Nukunuve in Savusavu, said he was surprised to be inducted as the headboy of the school yesterday.
“Last year I was the senior prefect and busy in soccer training as I am in the Under-19 team representing the school,” the 18-year-old lad said.
“I never dreamt or wish to become the headboy of such a big prestigious school because according to my knowledge I knew there were many good candidates.
“I feel really excited and thank the Lord for his grace and mercy in my life.
“I have faith that through God’s help I will be able to take care of 91 prefects with a student roll of 841 and 41 teachers,” he said.
When questioned what he wished to become in future, the eldest of two siblings said: “I want to become a professional welder.
“My father, who is 60-years-old, now is a retired welder and I have seen him enjoying his work,” Asaeli said.
“I believe there is more joy in trade work and I have heard there is more demand in Fiji and abroad.”
Meanwhile, the headgirl of the school, Akansha Sharma, 18, said she was thankful to the teachers for selecting her.
“My mother who is my role model is very proud of this achievement and I feel very happy to see a smile on her face,” the youngest of four siblings of Nukubalavu, Savusavu said.
“Although it is a joyful moment for my family, I know I have to be on my feet to fulfill my teachers and students expectations.”
