Merewalesi Becomes The First In Her Family To Be Headgirl

The mother of newly inducted headgirl of Veiuto Primary School Merewalesi Ravonu believes she has a lot on her plate to chew on this year.
“There is a lot for my daughter to do this year to lead a big primary school like Veiuto Primary School,” said Teresia Ravonu.
“I have seven children and all my six children studied at Veiuto Primary School.
“They were also prefects of this school, but Merewalesi was the first one in the family to become a headgirl.”
Ms Ravonu was speaking yesterday after her 13-year-old daughter was inducted during the school’s prefects’ induction ceremony in Suva yesterday.
“I am so proud with my daughter’s achievement,” Ms Ravonu said.
Merewalesi said she was happy and surprised at the same time to be given the new role.
“I am thankful to God for this achievement,” Merewalesi said.
“Being a headgirl of such a big primary school means a lot to me.
“I did not expect to become the headgirl of Veiuto Primary School, but I am happy.”
Merewalesi said she would have to work hard this year and set a good example for the students and help her teachers in leading the school.
Headboy Benjamin Matanitobua, 13, said: “I feel great and happy to become the headboy of Veiuto Primary School.
“I will fulfill my duties till end of the year as a head boy of the school.”
