Proud Neliza Realises Dad’s Dream

An emotional Neliza Nitasha Yunus watched her father yesterday make a formal request to the Chief Justice to accept her application to be admitted to the bar yesterday.
Ms Yunus, 25, had fulfilled her father’s dream,by following his footsteps in becoming a lawyer.
“It was my dad who wanted me to become a lawyer and today I am glad that I fulfilled his dream. I studied for him and also for my benefit,” said the 25-year-old.
She said her father, Mohammed Yunus, a practicing lawyer at the Suva Court, used to help her with her studies.
“I used to study overnight and he would be awake with me on occasions or would keep checking on me,” she said.
Her inspiration comes from her family, her parents and brother, as they have constantly pushed her to study daily.
“If I was not going to be a lawyer, then I would have been in the medical field,” she said.
She acknowledged the support by her parents and younger brother during the duration of her studies.
“It is my great pleasure and an honour for my family to see me admit my daughter and I will fail in my duty if I do not thank my lovely wife,” said Mr Yunus.
“She (wife) was the pillar of strength for my daughter and she sacrificed long nights to make sure that our daughter achieves what she has to achieve.”
