RKS Eels, QVS Knights Boost

The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League round one of the Vodafone Trophy competition kicks off at St Marcellin Primary School today.
FSSRL president Laisiasa Corerega said they anticipated a better and bigger 2017.
“We are glad to see new schools joining the competition from various zones which is a positive move for us as we aim for a better season.
“It’s all good to see the return of Ratu Kadavulevu School Eels and Queen Victoria School Knights featuring in all the grades,” Corerega said.
“This is Rugby League World Cup year and we will also be celebrating our 10th anniversary.”
AD Patel College in Ba and Balata High School in Tavua are the two new schools from the Ba/Tavua/Ra zone while Lautoka Andhra Sangam College is the new inclusion in the Nadi/Lautoka zone.
Competition will be played in a round robin format. The top three schools from Southern/East zone, top two teams from Ba/Tavua/Ra zone, top team from Nadroga/Navosa zone and top two from Nadi/Lautoka zone will plays for the quarterfinals.
A total of 28 schools will compete in this year’s competition.
Meanwhile QVS Knights and Marist Dragons will battle in the Tanoa Challenge while Nasinu Panthers plays Suva Grammar Titans in the Bati Challenge.
