“I thank the teachers for having faith in me to be the head boy of the school”

Nabila Public School headboy Esala Nabuli said leadership was very important in all areas of life.

“This is a small school near to our village but leadership is something very important in whatever situation we are in,” said Esala who hails from Emuri village in Nadroga.

Esala and headgirl Nunia Talatoka have promised to do their best, after being inducted to lead the school located in Malolo, Nadroga.

Both are looking at medical professions in the future.

“I thank the teachers for having faith in me to be the head boy of the school. We have to work hand in hand with the rest of the prefects,” he said.

Headgirl Nunia Talatoka who hails from Tamusua in Yasawa said she would continue what she was taught from her home by her parents including elders.

The school has a roll of 89 students and will be assisted by the 11 prefects who have been inducted.

Minister for Education Dr Mahendra Reddy has called on the students to perform to their best despite the setting at the coast of Momi in Nadroga Province.

“This is an important day as we establish the leadership of Fiji and the school chooses their leaders,” he said.

Mr Reddy said these leaders would play an important role between the rest of the students and the teachers.

“The prefects on the ground will raise those issues. School is the place where leaders are moulded to be future leaders,” Mr Reddy said.

“There are a lot of things that bother students in the village and do talk to them and see what bothers them and raise it with the teachers.

“Important to note why he or she is not in a good mood. We want all students to do well.”

Mr Reddy also requested the parents who were present in big numbers to play an active role in monitoring the children at home.
