Queen Victoria School played in the first round of the Fiji Secondary School Rugby League 2017 competition at the Marcellin Primary School in Suva yesterday.

The Victorians fielded teams in the Under-15, U17 and U19 grades of the Vodafone Trophy competition.

The U15 opened their campaign with a 28-0 thrashing of Assemblies of God High School which delighted manager Jolame Sorovi.

“Fitness is not 100 per cent since we had our trials on Wednesday. So we need more time to work on our fitness.

“Our goal is to win the competition,” he said.

Sorovi said AOG was a good team as they have been playing rugby league for a few years.

Meanwhile, Nasinu Secondary U15 beat Suva Grammar 18-8.

“We have been training without rugby balls as we don’t have any,”Nasinu U15 manager, Manasa Rokotuiveikau said.

“We are using bottles to throw around so it’s hard.”

Results: U15: Nasinu Sec 18-8 Suva Grammar, QVS 28-0 AOG; U17- AOG 30-0 Nabua Sec, QVS 14-17 Nasinu Sec; U19- MBHS 22- 30 QVS.
