Government vessel MV Iloilovatu transported the second phase of food ration to Qamea Island in Vanua Levu last Sunday.

This was confirmed by the Government Shipping Services (GSS) director, Josese Lawaniyasana.

National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) director, Akapusi Tuifagalele, said some of their staff was with the delivery team and the ration would be delivered to the whole of Qamea Island.

Mr Tuifagalele said Dreketi Village was mostly affected during Tropical Depression 04 (TD04) and they would received two months ration, while the rest of the villages received one month ration.

Mr Tuifagalele thanked GSS for always being readily available when the need arose.

Meanwhile, another Government vessel LCT Sigavou transport solar home systems to Vanua Levu.

Powerlite (Fiji) Limited managing director, Amlesh Kumar Din, said there were 820 solar home systems delivered to villages in Bua and Caukaudrove provinces.

“Our 10 boys were on the same trip and would be installing the solar system to all 820 houses,” Mr Din said.

This he said would take five to six months to complete their job depending on the weather.
