The Student Council of Lautoka Andhra Sangam School were reminded the importance of their role as leaders during the prefects’ induction ceremony yesterday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Josaphini Ratukalou, the second assistant head teacher, officiated at the event where 106 prefects were badged.

Ms Ratukalou said: “All the prefects need to carry out their duties diligently and to the best of their abilities.”

She also encouraged other students to be responsible, work hard and respect their leaders.

“The prefects are always reminded to never take advantage of their positions as leaders and not to break the trust their teachers have placed in them,” she said.

Ms Ratukalou encouraged students to work hand in hand and to support their school prefects and teachers in order to maintain a peaceful, vibrant, loving and a scholastic successful learning environment.

There were 26 school prefects, four head prefects, 38 class captains, and 38 environmental monitors for a school roll of 729.

Meanwhile the new teachers in the school inducted the prefects.
