Heavy Rain, Flash Flood Warning

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji, while chances of flash floods are high.

An active trough of low pressure with cloud and rain remains slowly moving over the northern parts of the country.

A flood warning is now in force for low lying areas and areas adjacent to Rakiraki Town, major rivers for Vanua Levu, the Eastern half of Viti Levu and the Lomaiviti Group.

The rest of Fiji can expect cloudy periods with some showers increasing to rain, becoming frequent and heavy.

As of yesterday, a Tropical Disturbance was located at about 270km east-southeast of Lakeba.

The Tropical Disturbance identified as TDOF12 had developed 540km east-southeast of Suva at around midday yesterday.

It is now moving in southeast wards further away from the Fiji group moving towards south Tonga.

The director, Fiji Meteorological Services, Ravind Kumar, said TDOF12 had a low chance of developing into a significant Tropical Depression in the country.
