Anand Achari started as a motor mechanic 30 years ago but always had a passion for motorcycles.

It was this passion that led him into scooter rentals, quad and buggy tours 18 years ago.

Mr Achari owns the Westside Motorbike & Go Dirty Tours.

He is one of the four finalists for the Tourism Leader category  in this year’s ANZ Fiji Tourism in Excellence Awards.

“I feel so honoured just being nominated. After spending 18 years in this field I am incredibly proud to just be recognised by my industry peers for my efforts in the tourism market,” Mr Achari said.

“I believe this nomination will reinforce the decisions I have made in relation to the diversification of the business activities from scooter rentals to quad and buggy tours in Fiji.

“It will inspire me to keep pursuing new and exciting offerings for my customers to experience Fiji in an authentic and adventuresome way.”

Mr Achari said the nomination showed that the ideals and their staff commitment to providing a safe and memorable tourism experience had been worth the effort put in by everyone.

“The long hours and hard work, the sacrifices and desire to continually improve the company, product offerings, and overall customer experience feels worth it every day when we see the smiles on our customers faces, but recognition for myself and my company is so rewarding.”

The awards night will be held this Saturday at the Sheraton Resort’s Convention Centre in Denarau, Nadi.
