Food tourism is a growing part of Fiji’s overall tourism product.

And executive chef for Mana Island Resort, Lance Seeto, says he is pleased to be recognised as one of its pioneering leaders.

Chef Seeto is one of the finalists vying for the Tourism Leader award in this year’s ANZ Fiji Tourism in Excellence Awards.

“This nomination as a tourism leader is a recognition that food tourism has become a significant element of the visitor experience across Fiji,” Chef Seeto.

“It also recognises my role to lead and inspire chefs and the pioneering of local food experiences.”

Chef Seeto, who has spent two years with Mana Island Resort, is soon to be the executive chef for the new Malamala Beach Club and Blue Lagoon Cruises.

“I am humbled as always to be nominated in the ANZ FETA awards, but more importantly I hope that this inspires others in tourism to continue to lead and innovate our industry.”

Chef Seeto added Fiji still had much work to do in terms of maintaining consistency of food and service.

“As well as identifying new culinary experiences that can be developed and evolved into a truly Fijian food product.”

Chef Seeto is a culinary ambassador for Fiji. This is through his past work with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Tourism Fiji and Fiji Airways.

He is also a food writer for a number of local and overseas publications.
