Lae Tigers rugby league team from Papua New Guinea looks forward to playing the Nadi Aviators at Lawaqa Park tomorrow at 3pm.

The Charlie Simon -captained side arrived into the country last night.

Coach Stanley Tepend said, “We have prepared well for this match and we are really excited to come here and all the boys are looking forward to this match. We are all excited for Saturday.

“We do not know much about the Nadi Aviators but we have been watching them from the clip and we expect them to be bigger than us. But we will just have to see and prepare and worry about ourselves.”

The former Kumuls five-eighth was pleased to bringing a full-strength team to Fiji.

“I think we just have to do the basics and that is to control the ball and cut down the mistakes.

“Over the last couple of years we have been successful in PNG. We have had three minor premiership and last year we won the grand final and it is fitting and rewarding for the boys to come over and play here.

“Most of the boys are from the grand final team that played last year,” he said.

The match will be at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, and pits the 2016 Digicel Cup champions against a Fiji side that is a combination of five of the top teams from the Vodafone Premiership.

Simon who will be playing for the first time in Fiji said it would be a match not to be missed.

“We hope to do well here, this year we know will be a tougher game for us.

“This is the first time for me to travel to Fiji and I like it already, the boys were training harder and we are confident of a good outcome.”
