A nationwide primary school competition aimed at teaching our children the value and management of money was launched on Thursday.

2017 National Poster Competition ‘L’ll Champs can be money wise too! was launched by the Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Mahendra Reddy and Reserve Bank of Fiji Governor Barry Whiteside.

Mr Whiteside said: “The idea is to teach the values and practices of managing money that one day will make these young boys and girls financially independent citizens of our nation.

“It has to start now.”

Mr Reddy said: “Given how crucial financial knowledge and skills are at all stages of life, no age is too young to start talking and teaching about money with your children.

“The key objective for the initiative is to raise awareness and understanding of savings and investment opportunities in Fiji.

“This poster  competition is expected to be a fun-filled activity for the children however, we envisage that in doing so they will be inquisitive to start asking the right questions about savings and investments,” Mr Reddy said.
