Headgirl Continues Leadership Call

The newly inducted headgirl of Seaqaqa Central College, Qaayenaat Ali is proud to continue with the family tradition.
The 18-year-old of Seaqaqa in Macuata province said her eldest sister was the headgirl of the school in 2012.
Her father, who is a secondary school teacher, was the deputy headboy at the same school during his time.
“My family and I are so proud,” the aspiring environmentalist said.
“I will make sure to be firm, polite and kind when controlling 527 students.”
Qaayenaat said her role as a leader would not be as challenging because she was the deputy headgirl last year and was aware of the responsibilities required.
Meanwhile, Tevita Vuniwaqa of Dreketi Village, Qamea Island, Cakaudrove, said he was surprised to be selected as the headboy.
“Last year I was just a senior prefect and so I didn’t think that I would be chosen as the headboy by the teachers.
“However, I feel proud and honoured to be the first headboy in my family,” the 18-year-old said.
“My father who is a primary school teacher at Seaqaqa District School is my role model and I thank him for supporting me.
“I want to be a very good role model to the 32 prefects in school, family, community, village and the nation,” the aspiring aircraft engineer said.
“They say never to be scared to dream big because our God is big,” Tevita said.
