Seminar Input Needed to Take Legal Aid Forward: Koya

Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya reminded staff members of the Legal Aid Commission they were the most important assets in the organisation and their contribution at the two-day seminar was vital.
Mr Koya said Government ensured that appropriate financial support was provided to the Legal Aid Commission, hence the increase in the grant allocation.
However, while Government provides the relevant resources for the Commission to undertake its task, Mr Koya said the onus was on the staff members to give their 100 per cent to their work.
He reminded them at the 6th Legal Aid Annual National Corporate Staff Training Seminar at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa yesterday.
“You have a pivotal role in providing the greater access to justice; you are the first point of contact with the public and the services provided by you all will not go unnoticed,” Mr Koya said.
The acting director of Legal Aid Commission, Shahin Ali thanked Mr Koya for his presence at the two-day programme.
He said Mr Koya had always contributed greatly in the works of the Commission during his time as a board member at Legal Aid Commission.
Mr Koya said new offices of the commission will be opened in Kadavu, Rotuma, Nabouwalu, Levuka and Taveuni.
