The Akuila Utonitakara captained- Nadi Aviators suffered a 40-4 loss at the hands of Lae Snax Tigers during the Melanesian Cup Championship at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.

The Papua New Guinea champion side scored seven tries to one in a one-sided affair.

Aviators head coach Vela Tawake said they have learned a lot from the humiliating loss.

“The amount of mistakes we committed really cost us the game,” he said.

“There were 16 drop balls in the first half. This is a big learning curve to the team and we will just see how it goes from here. They really taught us a lesson but we can’t blame anybody.”

Tigers coach Stanley Tepend told SUNsports that they needed to start strong and set the pace of the game.

“This is because of our fitness level as we took over and that is how it was towards the last minute of the game. We really enjoyed playing in Fiji.”
