Like the many who lost their loved ones on the night of February 20 last year, Raijeli Mateiwai still misses her brother.
Sakiusa Veiqaravi, 35, died when a falling block hit him at the height of Tropical Cyclone Winston.
He was one of four victims who died in Boitaci village, Vanuabalavu, Lau.
“Sakiusa was hardworking and was always close to our parents.”
Ms Mateiwai who resides in Suva wasn’t aware of her brother’s death until they heard it from relatives.
“I was told that the house had crumbled over them, he managed to escape but was hit by a falling block,” said an emotional MsMateiwai.
She also lost her Aunt and Uncle, Salaseini Tavo and Gauna Bale.
“My parents suffered minor injuries too and were bought to Suva to recover.”
