A family of Drasa outside Lautoka city are still devastated after Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston claimed the life of their father.
Taniela Voreqe, 43, was the sole bread winner.
His eldest son Luke Nacei said his father was leaning against the door which was partially damaged in the early minutes of the heavy wind gusts.
Mr Nacei said when the door was blown off by the strong wind, it killed his father.
“My dad decided to lean on the door so that it would stay closed. Then suddenly we heard a loud sound, and my father flew to the middle of the house.”
Mr Nacei said the last words that came out from his father were “na watiqu qai maroroi iratou na gone” (My wife, do safeguard our children).
He is survived by his wife and four children.
