Anisi Levoki could not hold back her tears as she uttered the words “I miss my mom”

The 12-year-old said she still couldn’t forget the tragedy that took the life of her mother.

Titilia Mua, 33 of Matainananu Village, Ra, was amongst the victims killed by the Tropical Cyclone Winston.

He husband, Sevanaia Ravania said even after a year, he was still trying to accept the fact that his wife will never return.

“I miss her and I feel so lost without my wife, she was always there for me and was the backbone of our family.

“She ran to our house to get a few other things when our house collapsed on her,” he said.

Mr Ravania said his wife’s backbone was hit by the roof which led to her death.

She was buried in the village the very next day.

“I am now a solo dad and I am really working hard to support my daughter’s education,” he said.

The late Ms Mua was the community nurse (nasi-ni-koro) in the settlement.
