The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) provided students of Lomary Secondary and Primary School and Ratu Latianara College with information about careers in the maritime industry at the career expo organised in Serua by the Ministry for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, and for Students of   Queen Victoria School also had an opportunity at a career expo organised by the Ministry of Education.

The career expo’s were held last week.

“There are many opportunities for students in the maritime industry and it is important that they receive all the necessary information to ensure they make informed decision on their future,” said MSAF chief executive officer, John Tunidau.

Students were told about the various maritime career opportunities and the requirements for each should they wish to pursue these careers.

Demonstrations on the use of Life Saving Appliances (LSA) were also conducted to teach students about safety of life at sea. Students got to experience first-hand on how to use signal flares, smoke flares, life jackets and other important LSAs.
