President receives credentials from North Korean envoy

President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote, yesterday received the credentials from the Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) to Fiji, An Kwang-Il.

Ambassador An presented his credentials at State House after inspecting a 25-member guard of honour by officers of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

He has held various senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

He also served as the Third Secretary and the First Secretary at Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s Embassy in Pakistan from 2006-2011.

Ambassador Kwang-Il is a graduate of Kim Il-Sung University in Pyongyang, North Korea. He will be based in Indonesia and will be accredited to Kiribati, Nauru and Vanuatu.
