Medical Services Pacific Emerges as The  ‘Champion of Justice’ Against Child Violence

Fiji Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho, visited Medical Services Pacific on Wednesday, to review the progress of their Memorandum of Understanding with Medical Services Pacific.

Medical Services Pacific (MSP) presented their Annual 2016 report and discussed results with representatives of the Fiji Police Force.

MSP provides medical forensics examinations, counselling and legal advice to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.

To date assisting over 400 clients since commencing the programme in 2012. The majority of clients being seen by MSP are under 18 years of age.

MSP provides specialise services for child survivors of sexual violence or abuse.

MSP has achieved outstanding results with the support of the Fijian Police Force, in terms of increasing the numbers of sexual assault cases being prosecuted effectively.

This year, all cases summoned have had successful prosecutions in the Fiji Court.

“This positive outcome is due to the integrated services that MSP provides to medical clients with the support of the FPF.

“MSP has seen outstanding progress with convictions and meaningful resolutions for our clients. Working together, we are able to increase access to justice for survivors” says Jennifer Poole, Executive Director.

MSP has worked in Child Protection for many years, providing a range of counselling services including the 24 hour Child Help Line on behalf of the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.
