It was a dream come true for Waiyala, Navosa, native Apisai Tovuga after being inducted headboy yesterday for Ratu Navula Secondary School in Nadi.

“It has been a long-time dream and it has come true today and I thank the Lord for his provision and I believe he has answered my prayers,” Apisai said.

“It’s actually fulfilling and I also have my parents and teachers to thank for teaching me lifelong lessons that has made me a disciplined person and brought me to where I am now.”

Apisai was inducted as headboy with 71 other prefects at a prefects’ induction ceremony at the Ratu Navula Secondary School.

He also acknowledged the Lord Almighty for his guidance and summed it up with a Bible verse from the Epistle of James 4:10;  “Humble yourself before the Lord and he will lift you up.”

He said this had been his guiding principle because only he knew what he really wanted deep inside.

He plans to pursue a career in law when he leaves secondary school.

Aspiring accountant Mereoni Nai after being badged as the headgirl said she hoped to be an inspiration to her peers.

“This came as a surprise, but I have accepted this and the challenges that come along and I hope to perform to the expectation that is required,” Mereoni said.

“I have come a long way with challenges but they have always made me strong and until now I have my parents, teachers and Lord for their support and direction.”
