Rakiraki Play For Ratnesh

The Pragdish Gounder-coached Rakiraki football team will be wearing black armbands in their Vodafone Premier League debut match against Rewa on tomorrow.

This is as a mark of respect for defender Ratnesh Karan Singh who died early this week.

Singh was registered with Lami Football previously and Rakiraki FA president Shaneel Gounder brought him to play for the side during the 2016 Courts IDC.

“It is a setback for Rakiraki and we will play with black armbands and observe a one minute silence on Sunday,” he said.

Gounder said despite the setback, Rakiraki aim to impress on debut against Delta Tigers who are preparing for the Champions League.

“We will be out there to deliver our best effort,” he said.

“We call the supporters to be there for us.”

The side is bolstered with seasoned players such as former Ba rep Ronald Lawrence and former national and Lautoka striker Shalesh Sami Bula.

Other notable reps are Jale Vota, Daniel Dass, Akai Uluibau, Severio Naqoli, goalkeeper Sairusi Nabogi, former Nadroga utility Joseph Elder, Zainal Hussein (Lautoka) and Fiji Under-20 midfielder Kartik Kumar.
