Regular Letter Writer Heads College

Fiji Sun Letter writer Herleem Emily hopes to inspire her peers in school as she takes on her new role as a headgirl.
The 18-year-old was yesterday inducted headgirl alongside 54 other prefects and headboy Sagar Rakshay Kumar at Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College (SSKMC) in Nadi.
“As the headgirl of the college, I am not only representing the school but also the powerful and strong girls of our college,” Herleem said.
“I would like to thank the Lord and my parents for supporting and encouraging me.
“As we commemorate one year after TC Winston battered our beloved country and our national 7s side winning gold in Rio so it is a motivating factor, so as prefects we may not be going of gold but we definitely have golds for this institution,” she said.
Herleem is a regular writer in the Letters column of the Fiji Sun and one of her letter “Job Equality” won her a weekly winner award; a Parker pen.
She highlighted an issue about a bottle collector who was being mocked by the public and through that letter now people have started respecting him and some have even donated to the family.
Headboy Sagar Rakshay Kumar was honoured to be badged as a headboy.
“I feel honoured to be part of this year’s student council and hoping to give my best this year.”
Ms Emily also hopes to keep writing and inspire many people in the society
“I believe and hope to inspire many people in the society with my letters,” she said.
