Bau won the 2017 Queen Victoria School inter-house athletics competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

Bau House collected 24 gold medals, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals, Verata second (11, 14, 24), Rewa  third (9, 13,  8) and Tovata finished fourth (5, 17, 11).

Assistant principal Taniela Domoni highlighted despite the late preparation, they still managed to have over 300 athletes participating.

“We started in the second week of the school term and we have a lot of work to do to be on par with other schools.

“The competition in the heats on Thursday at Matavatucou was well contested. We brought the students to the ANZ Stadium for the finals so we can identify the best athletes for Coke Games,” he said.

Domoni said they hope to win more medals in the 2017 Coca- Cola Games in April.

“Last year we did well in the track events but we settled for silver and in April we want to capture more gold medals,” he said.

QVS finished fifth overall in the medal tally last year.
